As lash artists, we all love a jet black lash line, and for the clients that prefer this, we need to know how to provide this look! In this article we're going to be sharing how to achieve a black lash line to die for, no matter the set!
LASHING IN LAYERS
Natural lash lines can have up to five layers, and most people have at least 3 layers of lashes. When aiming to create darker and fuller sets, you want to lash the top, middle and bottom layer strategically. Lashing in layers is the most effective way to achieve a sharp dark liner effect. To create a dark lash line, we want to focus predominantly on the bottom lash layer. Opt for shorter length fans with a narrow base, and aim to go at least 2mm shorter. This not only creates our desired lash line effect, it also adds texture and dimension due to the contrasting lengths.
LASH TAPE IS YOUR BESTIE
Using tape to separate the layers will aid you in lashing every layer and will help you lash and isolate the natural lashes that would otherwise be harder to reach. If you want to achieve super clean work lashing in layers is a must. You want to use a sensitive lash tape, our favourite is blue Nexcare tape, and always ensure you de-tack the tape first to avoid pulling any extensions out when removing.
LASH DIAMETERS
This is a tip specific to mega volume lash sets. Using and mixing low diameter lashes is an essential for mega volume sets as it allows you to create and apply wider fans with more extensions without compromising the health of the natural lashes. Pro tip: mixing 0.05 and 0.02 creates insane texture and fluff!
